Decluttering Your Bathroom: Smart Storage Solutions

Category:
Smart bathroom storage solutions include using the walls to create shelves for towels.

Decluttering your bathroom is only the first step in getting organized. You do still need many supplies in that bathroom, so decluttering can only go so far. Fortunately, there are many bathroom storage solutions that are simple and inexpensive. Best of all, some could even enhance the design of your bathroom beautifully.

Bathroom Storage Solution Ideas

1. Storage containers are your best friend in bathroom organization.

We discussed separating items in your bathroom by category, but you also want to be able to tuck them away neatly and be able to find them easily. Purchase a variety of sizes of storage containers — from 1-ounce containers to 1-gallon containers as needed. Dedicate one container for one particular item only, such as one small one for hair ties and a larger one for dental products.

Tuck them away in your cabinet to clear the clutter off your bathroom countertops. Avoid stacking them on top of each other, or you will find yourself shuffling items out of the way before you can reach the one you want.

2. Enhance the appearance of your bathroom countertops.

For those items that you use on a regular basis, perhaps you do want to leave them on top of the bathroom sink. If you do, take the time to purchase holders that enhance the design of your bathroom. Don’t simply leave items scattered on the countertop. Having these items will also enable you to stay organized as well as clear space in your cabinets.

3. Invest in a movable cart.

If you have room in your bathroom, consider investing in an additional storage cart, where you can neatly store various items.

It’s also the ideal place to safely store cleaning products to ensure they don’t get in the way of toiletries, medications, and beauty supplies.

It is possible to create a neat, organized bathroom.

4. Use bathroom space wisely.

That area over your toilet is probably not being used at all, but it’s actually prime space.  Consider an over-the-toilet space saver, which is available in a variety of beautiful materials and features storage shelves.

5. Use the walls.

Don’t overlook walls for sconces with candle holders, hooks and shelving, and artwork. Sconces are the perfect place to “store” candles. Shelves and hooks are ideal for toilet paper, electronic devices, towels, and more. And, well, artwork simply beautifies your bathroom, which will encourage you to keep it neat and organized.

6. Opt for a spacious medicine cabinet for the bathroom.

A spacious, mirrored medicine cabinet will allow you to store medications and first aid supplies with ease. It’s important to be able to find these items quickly, so don’t place anything else in them.

If you choose to use your medicine cabinet for something other than medications and first aid supplies, that’s fine too. Decide how you want to use the cabinet and stick with it.

Of course, choosing a beautiful, mirrored cabinet will enhance the appearance of your bathroom as well.

Longer-Lasting Bathroom Storage Solutions

Many of the above ideas are simple fixes, but renovating your bathroom with a goal of decluttering can create longer-lasting bathroom storage solutions. For instance, consider recessed shelves inside your shower, beautiful shelving along a wall, and a bathroom vanity with a spacious interior.
