6 Easy and Smart Ways to Maximize Kitchen Space

We can all use more space in our kitchens and overall homes, especially if we’ve lived in them awhile. Oh, for the first year or so in your home, you seem to have plenty of storage space. Over the years as you collect kitchen appliances, gadgets, and cookware, those walls seem to come in closer and closer. When you work with skilled kitchen designers, they can create ways to maximize kitchen space that you never dreamed of before. Your kitchen can be transformed from cluttered and inefficient to organized and beautiful in just a short amount of time.
How to Maximize Kitchen Space
Whether you have a small kitchen, live in shared space, or have simply run out of room, following are a few ways we can work together to maximize kitchen space in your home.
1. Install appliances inside of walls if possible.
Having a stove and microwave inside of a kitchen wall saves an immense amount of prime space in your home. You can use that remaining area for a breakfast nook, other appliances, small dinner table, decor, or a children’s study/play area so you can keep your eye on them while you’re in the kitchen.
2. Opt for half of a table or bench.
If you don’t have room for a table in the kitchen, consider attaching a shelf-like counter on a wall with enough room for bar stools or chairs to be tucked underneath. The counter and chairs can be used for food prep, eating small snacks or meals, or simply socializing.
3. Make use of cabinet doors.
Hang a letter hanger from your local office supply store inside of your kitchen cabinet doors, and you can use them to store many items, including cooking utensils, sponges, and even silverware. You can also add hooks inside of the doors to hang towels that you use for cooking, cleaning, or drying your hands. Another option is to create larger compartments for oils, vinegars, and similar items.
4. Look up.
Hang coffee mugs from rods or hooks. Invest in a hanging wine glass rack that you can install under a cabinet. Add shelves that you can use for spices and herbs. Hang pots and pans from the ceiling. Seriously take a long look at your walls and ceiling, and the inspiration will come to you.
5. Choose pull-out shelving for your kitchen cabinets.
In addition to using space wisely, you also want to be able to work efficiently. One way to do so is by installing pull-out shelving inside your kitchen cabinets, allowing you to find items without the hassle of digging through the clutter.
6. Cover up your sink.
Invest in a high-quality, sturdy cutting board, and slide it over the sink when you need to slice and dice.
Keeping Your Kitchen Organized
When you maximize kitchen space, keeping it organized will become easier and more enjoyable as well. Every item in the kitchen can have its place, and you will be able to find what you’re looking for faster. Just imagine how much easier it will be to empty the dishwasher!
